    Description

This strip is 5 1/2 inches across 1 1/8 inch at the highest and only a bit over 1/16 inch thick It's shows the top of a fence with bits of greenery behind it, and 2 white horse heads peering over the top. It's made out of  a mixture of  wood pulp and other ingredients which has been molded under high compression and molded. The Syracuse Ornamental Company under the trade name Syroco made all sorts of items with this material - everything from bookends, figurines, boxes, picture frames and plaques - anything in imitation of carved wood. They were popular from the 30's to the 50's.  The strip is not signed - Syroco was the main maker of these items, but there were imitators. This little strip had been glued on to an object - I'm not sure what. Would make a nice ornament for any number of things.
